Galaxy rasbora is often called as Danio margaritatus a small and ray finned fish. This fish is also refered as celestial pearl danio and Microrasbora in aquarium trade. The fish is from the family of Danionidae a small fresh water ray finned fish.

This fish is from Northern Thailand and found in small area near Hopong east of Inle lake. However, galaxy rasbora discovered in 2006, and quickly appeared in aquarium tanks, its size and color makes it the intant hit. It’s a delightful nano fish their beauty elevates tank where they live.

Appearance of Galaxy Rasbora 

This fish is commonly know for striking colors and unique marking patterns. It’s a popular aquarium fish due to its small size and exquisit color appearance. Galaxy Rasbora is one of the attractive fish from the family of Danionidae. It has striking golden spots which scattered on their body.

This is a very small size fish grows just 1 inches long maximum. Celestial pearl danio feature bright red orange fin with black strips. However, this fish comes from South Asia and live with dense vegetation.  Glaxay Rasbora is known for being shy, so it is suggested to aquarists to keep 10-15 Glaxay Rasbora to feel them safer. 

This specie sexes show some difference in biological characters. The male fish have bright blue colour base with bright fins. Their tail and body is also higher as compared to females. Whereas, the back is bronzy green and belly of females is yellowish white. By the grace of god body is sprinkled with the small golden pearls.

Tank Parameters of Galaxy Rasbora

 Danio margaritatus are good beginner fish, they are active, quite hardy and good for community tanks. Moreover, the tank size for this is depend on the specie, they ideal tank size for this 10-20 gallons. It is considered  that is best for possible size it provides.

Temperature or pH level

Glaxay Rasboras are usually come from acidic and soft water. The best considered pH level for water is 6.0-8.0 with the parameters of 72-82 degree fahrenhiets. Moreover, the parameters set for this is soft to moderately hard water.

For mainting the water conditions, you must have to the change water daily. While keeping fish one thing is very Important, is to good quality filters. These are sensitives fishes, water should not be polluted, environment must be clean and nicely maintained. 

Tank mates of of Celestial pearl danio 

It is discussed early that Microrasbora is a good beginner fish and their active behaviour make them the ideal aquarium fish. So it is generally advice that should keep those species which are matches to their behaviour and size to avoid conflicts. Finding Tankmates for them is quite challenging and demands some research on behaviour and natural habitat. However, best considered tank mates for them are killifish, Neon Tetras, Guppies and corydoras.

Feeding

Galaxy Rasbora, as they are omnivores they can eat variety of foods. Which includes insects, and plants matters. They feed on variety of high-quality of pellets and frozen foods. 

Their diet should include protein and vegetable matters both things are important. They also feed on baby brine shrimps, micro worms  and frozen cyclops. In dry food items, prepare crushed flakes and small fish food.

Keeping any animal as pet not easy, but if one knows their diet and habitat then it will be easy of them.

Breeding

The breeding of nano fish is quite easy to breed, like galaxy rasbora and it will be successful in well established aquarium. Although, to breed them at home you should have atleast six fish and make sure there are male and female.The tank should be filled with dense plants java moss and yarn spawning mop.

Moreover, feed them with good food, once the female fish start developing their belly which is full of eggs. The interesting fact is that this fish specie spawn daily. To protect the eggs from the adults, place them into the separate tank. The eggs will hatch within a week depending on the temperature.

Another breeding process is place them in an outdoor mini pond, with more plants during warm seasons. After the end of the warm season, place the tank inside.
