The scientific name of brilliant rasbora is Rasbora einthovenii. It’s a ray-finned fish from the genus of Rasborinae. This fresh water fish belongs to the family of Cyprinidae. This family includes many other popular fish such as Danios and Tetras. The fish is found in the Malay Peninsula and Borneo.

Brilliant Rasbora Appearance

Brilliant rasbora have a remarkable array of colors that beautify any aquarium. This fish is commonly known for its tan color and unique marking pattern. Here we see the grace of God, that they have silver tan color with solid black line that moves to the entire body length.

Rasbora einthovenii is one of the attractive fish from the family of Cyprinidae. It’s a classic beginner fish, have tan color and black line crossing through the eyes and mouth. The light in the aquarium gives the brilliant appearen to fish. In addition the adult fish grows just 2 inches maximum, the care of the fish is minimal. Its very size and calm nature and temperature makes them the brilliant companion of tanks mates.

Tank Parameters

Brilliant Rasboras are good beginner fish, they are active and good for community tanks. Moreover, the tank size for this is depend on the specie, the ideal tank size for this 20 gallon. It is considered  that it is best for the possible size it provides.

While setting up the tank for them, keep one thing in mind, that they should be provided with the sufficient hiding spaces and plants. These fishes prefer the planted tank, but there should be plenty of space for swimming. They prefer java moss, anubias, and cryptocoryne plants. This will help to create a sense of security for these fish.

Temperature or pH level

Brilliant Rasboras usually come from more acidic and soft swamps water from Southeast Asia. The best considered pH level for water is 6.0-7.5 with the parameters of 72-78 degree fahrenhiets. The parameters set for this is sotf to moderately hard water.

For mainting the water conditions, you must have to change water daily. While keeping fish one thing is very Important, is to have good quality filters. These are sensitive fishes, water should not be polluted, and the environment must be clean and nicely maintained. 

Brilliant Rasbora Feeding

Brilliant Rasboras, as they are omnivores they can eat variety of foods. Which includes insects, and plants matters. They feed on a variety of high-quality of pellets and frozen foods.

Their diet should include protein and plant matters both things are important. They also feed on brine shrimps, bloodworms  and daphina. In addition, their diet also rich with supplements like freeze dried or live foods. All these food keep them healthy and maintain their vibrant colors.

Keeping any animal as pet not easy, but if one knows their diet and habitat then it will be easy of them.

Breeding

Brilliant rasboras are easy keeping fish, and their breeding cane be achievable through care. It can be easy for experience aquarist, but still required some care and efforts. The important factor in their breeding process is suitable environment and a separate tank.Which should be rich with plants, water should be soft and acidic, with slightly low water level.  

For breeding, should provide them with the spawning mop and plants like java moss for eggs disposition. During this process male fish showcase vibrant colors and chase female fish. Once the female release eggs, male fish will fertilize the eggs, after that some some eggs stick with nearest plant. After this whole process remove the aduilt fish from tank, to protect the eggs. 

After 24 to 48 hr eggs will hatch and the fry become free swimmer. The fry start eating infusoria and then gradualy moves to bigger food.
