Pearlweed is an extinct specie know by its scientific name Micranthemum micranthemoides or Hemianthus micranthemoides. An aquascaping plant in habitat wet areas and originate from Virginia(New York). Another common name of pearlweed is Nuttal’s mudflower. This plant is popular among aquarist because of its fast growth and elegant appearance. It is found in wet pools as well as in stagnant water. 

Characteristics of Pearlweed 

Usage: Pearlweed is used as a carpet in tanks and as a bushy accent in background.

Appearance: it’s has small, pearl like and compact leaves. Have bright gree color form like a carpet. The plant have delicate stems and can be maintained or trimmed for new growth.

Can Pearlweed Grow on Sand?

The interesting fact about this plant is they cannot only grow on wet areas. This plant can also grow on substrates such as sand and aqua soil. Moreover this plant can survive in bright and indirect sunlight. Because direct sunlight might scroch and burn leaves.
