The word rasboras means “an exquisitely colored Cyprinid fresh water fish”. This fish belongs to the Danionidae family. They are inhabitat in freshwater in South and South Asia and also in South china. Rasboras are peaceful, colorful and aquarium fish.

Generally Rasbora are schooling fish in the family of Cyprinid. By the schooling fish means they are related to bars , or star fish. This specie is generally small, peaceful, and colorful fish. Moreover,  rasboras are easy to fish in all manners. From their natural habitat to their behavior, as well as feeding and breeding.

Rasboras Appearance

This fish is commonly know for striking colors and unique marking patterns. Here we see the grace of God, that they have variety of vibrant colors such as, red, orange, yellow etc. Some of them also have black markings in the form of strips or spots.

The rasbora grow not more than 4 inches which make them ideal for the small size aquarium. The popular species of this fish are harlequin, chili, scissortail etc. The interesting fact about these fish are they are not grown more than 2 inches.

Rasboras Tank Parameters

While setting up the tank for them, keep one thing in your mind, that they should be provided with the sufficient hiding spaces and plants. These fishes prefer the planted tank, but there should be the plenty of space of swimming.

Temperature or pH level

Rasbora are usually adapted soft and acidic water. The best considered pH level for water is 6.0-7.0 with the hardness of just 5-12 dGH.

For mainting the water conditions, you must have to the change water daily. While keeping fish on e thing is very Important, is to good quality filters. These are sensitives fishes, water should not be polluted, environment must be clean and nicely maintained. 

Feeding

Rasboras, as they are omnivores they can eat variety of foods. Which includes insects, and plants matters. They feed on variety of high-quality of pellets and frozen foods.

Their diet should include protein and plant matters both things are important. They also feed on brine shrimps, bloodworms  and daphina. In addition, their diet also rich with supplements like freeze dried or live foods. All these food keep them healthy.

Keeping any animal as pet not easy, but if one knows their diet and habitat ith will be easy of them. 

Breeding

Though rasbora are easy keeping fish, but their breeding is quiet tough. It can be easy for experience aquarist, but still required efforts. The important factor in their breeding process is suitable environment and a separate tank. Which should be rich with lot of hiding spaces and plants.

For breeding, the should be slightly cooler from the normal with the increased water flow. This specie reproduce in different ways, some deposit eggs or lay on plant leaves, some scatter eggs over decor. Some eggs will hatch in few days and some might eaten by inhabitants.  

It is reported that, spawning can be induced by diet of frozen and live foods.
